"Oh, that's true," Amberly realised. She was disappointed that teaching oneself a new language would be nearly impossible if you didn't know what it sounded like, but at the same time she did not want to butcher the language entirely. That would be pointless. "Ah well," she said, smiling up at him. "We don't need another language to communicate. Although that could be fun."
It was an interesting idea, but she wondered if the government would approve. Speaking in another language meant they could be talking about anything, and even if it was innocent, it could be taken wrongly. Amberly knew what could disrupt the peace, and didn't want to breach that. After all, she had nothing against the government.
Amberly sighed happily in Dimitri's arms, for what was probably the hundredth time that evening. She felt so comfortable with him, even if she was hiding the Tyler thing from him. But she was going to tell him soon. She would. Otherwise, it wouldn't be fair. Please don't hate me, she thought. If he did, she felt it could destroy her.
(ooc: So because we should probably end this soon, what do you think about Tyler coming back, searching for Amberly who hasn't come home yet?)

Dimitri kissed Amberly's nose. "Oh well," he murmured. "I've got nothing I need to hide. I'm not ashamed of you," he said, his voice firm. His lifts brushed her forehead softly. "Screw what they think." They were dangerous words, he knew, but they felt right. Words couldn't begin to describe how he felt about Amberly. So who the hell did those in charge think they were to keep them apart? So what if they were different? They worked. They were perfect. And no one had any right to say that they couldn't be together. No one.
"You mean more to me than any faction. I don't care about the rules. Fuck 'em." Dimitri laughed, but he was completely serious. He was scared, sure, but that didn't lessen his feelings for Amberly. He didn't think anything could.

Amberly beamed when Dimitri told her that he was not ashamed of her. She had not been thinking directly that he might be, but the thought of him maybe wanting to hide her because she was of a different faction did worry her. Not that Amberly was against hiding -- it was nothing new to her when it came to relationships -- but it was nice to hear. As Dimitri went on about how much she meant to him, she felt as if her heart was soaring. It sounded silly, when thought of literally, but she felt like she weighed nothing; like she was air. And that was all because of Dimitri. She blushed intensely at his declaration, but widened her eyes slightly when he swore. She had heard Tyler swear on many occasions, so the word was nothing knew to her. She just had not expected Dimitri to. Amberly hardly ever swore -- swearing was one of those things the Amity faction found unnecessarily vulgar. Swearing was only used when conflict arose, but Amberly supposed that she was going to have to deal with conflict sooner or later if she was to be with Dimitri. "Fuck 'em," she agreed. The word tasted weird on her tongue, but in a fitting sort of way. It made sense, and didn't even taste disgusting. It tasted rebellious. And she liked it.
Movement caught her attention and Amberly turned her head to the side, looking over the side of the roof. A figure below was hurrying up to the school. Who comes to school at this time of day? she wondered, and then gasped when the lights of the school hit the figure, making his face visible enough for her to make out. "Tyler," she exclaimed, but not loud enough for him to hear below. She instinctively pulled herself away from Dimitri's hold and out of sight of the grounds below, nearly slipping on the ice once again. She looked at Dimitri apologetically. "My cousin Tyler's down there," she explained. "My mom probably sent him because I haven't come home yet. Oh man, they must be worried. I'm never late, and we've been up here.. How long have we been up here?" she asked, stressing.

Dimitri laughed when Amberly swore. The curse sounded so foreign and strange in her innocent, sweet voice. He brushed her hair away from her face, words dancing on the tip of his tongue. As true as they were, he swallowed them down, unable to choke them out. Instead, he smiled and said, "You are absolutely gorgeous. Especially when you smile."
A chill instantly swept over Dimitri when Amberly pulled away. His arms felt empty without her soft curves, his chest empty without her perfect head. It didn't make sense for her to be as afraid as she was, even after she said it was Tyler coming, but Dimitri didn't question her. Just because he wasn't embarrassed of her didn't mean she wasn't embarrassed of him. It would be foolish to assume otherwise. Dimitri frowned, stepping away from Amberly, though his legs protested against it.They were only a few feet apart now, but it felt like hundreds of miles.
"I'm not sure how long we've been up here," Dimitri shrugged. "School's been out for an hour, maybe two? I don't know. It's hard to tell, what with it getting dark so early in the winter."

Amberly looked at her wrist for a watch, but remembered she had left it at home that morning because it kept pinching her skin. "Two hours would mean it's ... five. After five," she realised, shaking her head. "I've missed dinner." She was going to be in such trouble when she got home, not to mention what Tyler was going to say.
Amberly relaxed herself a little, then smiled sadly at Dimitri. "I should go find Tyler and then get home. I don't want to, but..." She sighed, wishing for real that she could just stay on the rooftop with Dimitri forever. She would be perfectly content doing that. "I don't want to you to think I don't want to be seen with you," she told Dimitri regretfully. "But my cousin's really protective of me and he has these anger issues, and if he's already worried about where I am, it's best if I just go find him alone. I..." She broke off, and looked at Dimitri fully, then beamed at him. He was amazing. The way the sky was dark behind him, the lights of the sky reflecting off him.. he stood out against the dark. He was the light in the dark and she got to have him. "I'll miss you," she admitted, not blushing for once. Amberly stepped towards him and hugged him tightly before standing on her toes and pressing her lips to his. She made sure to only give him a quick kiss, for if she kissed him for too long, she was not sure if she would ever pull away. "But I have to go," she added, stepping away from him and shrugging off his jacket. She handed it back to him, still smiling. "Thank you. But you can have it back. I'll be fine walking home without it. But I can still have this?" she asked, holding a part of the sweater.

Dimitri smiled sadly. "I understand, you really should get home. I don't want you to get in trouble," he said, trying to keep himself from sighing. He kissed her forehead, smiling slightly as he did so. "And I'm sorry I made you miss dinner, love."
He listened quietly when Amberly explained how protective Tyler was over her, nodding slightly. "It's okay, no worries. I get it," he offered her another half-hearted smile. Maybe it was childish of him, but he couldn't help it. Dimitri didn't want to leave this roof. He didn't want to leave Amberly. Not now, not ever. But, of course, he had to. At least for a little while. When Amberly kissed him, Dimitri didn't ever want to pull away, but too soon he found nothing but cold January air on his lips.
"We'll see each other soon," Dimitri murmured, mostly to himself. Reassurance. He smiled when Amberly asked if she could keep his sweater. "Of course you can. It's all yours," he said, sliding back into his jacket. It smelled, faintly, like her. And that would have to do for now.

Amberly shook her head, blushing at the word love even though she knew it was just a term of endearment and nothing more, and said. "Don't apologise for that. I don't regret missing my dinner. Besides, my parents won't let me starve. I'll find something to eat when I get home. I'm not even hungry, anyways," she told him honestly. She would miss a thousand meals to be with him, if that was at all possible without her withering away.
Amberly hugged the sweater tightly around herself and smiled at Dimitri. It was a bit large on her, but she thought it was the perfect size. She didn't even care that Tyler would see it and would question her. She had something of Dimitri to take with her -- something more tangible than a memory -- and that was all that mattered. "I'll see you, then," she said finally, her mind forcing her stubborn legs to walk away to the door to the stairs. She wouldn't be able to walk down with Dimitri, even though she wanted to, because she knew that by now, Tyler was somewhere in the school, looking for her. With one last glance over her shoulder at Dimitri, she flashed him a smile, then forced herself to turn her head and descend the stairs without him. As she reached the bottom floor of the school and grabbed her stuff from her locker, Amberly felt chilly. The heating was on in the school, but she felt bare and incomplete without Dimitri there. She knew that was why she felt cold -- she had a jacket and Dimitri's sweater on. It was his absense.
A part of her felt like she might not see him again, but she knew that would be ridiculous. It wasn't like they had met in some far off country somewhere. They went to the same school, and all insecurities aside, she knew Dimitri would want to see her again.
"Amberly!" A voice shouted from behind her.
Amberly jumped in surprise and snapped back to reality, slamming her locker door shut and quickly throwing her backpack over her shoulder. "Hi Tyler," she said innocently.
"What the hell!" her cousin exclaimed. "When you didn't meet me outside the school like usual, I thought you had left without me!" Amberly sighed, and walking alongside Tyler, knowing this was the first earful she was going to get that night. But it would be the worst of the two -- it was easier lying to her parents to avoid conflict than lying to Tyler. Tyler, though moody and arrogant, was still a Candor. He hated when she lied to him, and so she never had. Today would be the first. "An then I went to your house after dropping my stuff off at home and grabbing food, only to find you hadn't come home yet! Aunt Miranda and Uncle Rich were surprised to find out that I wasn't with you, and they started to worry. Amberly, you shouldn't do that to your parents. To me!" Tyler stopped walking just outside the school front doors and stepped in front of Amberly, placing his hands on her shoulders and looking into her eyes intensely.
"I'm sorry," Amberly said, and she was. "I didn't mean to worry anyone. I caught some inspiration and I started drawing and I lost track of time," she lied. "Please don't be mad."
"I'm not mad," Tyler sighed. "And I told your parents I forgot that you were still at school doing a project for a class, so they won't be worrying about you."
Amberly gasped. "Tyler, you lied? Why would you do that?"
"For you, Amb. But it would have blown up in my face if something had happened to you." Tyler pulled Amberly into his arms and hugged her tightly, kissing her head. "I was so worried," he whispered. He felt Amberly shudder and then pull away, looking guilty. He thought she looked guilty for making him worry, and added, "But you're okay, and that's all that matters. Let's go home."
Amberly nodded slowly, not saying anything. She wasn't only guilty for making Tyler worry, but also for the fact that he had actually told a straight out lie for her, and that she had lied to him when in fact she had been with Dimitri. She was lying to both Dimitri and Tyler. And it was going to blow up in her face one way or another. Lies always did. They always hurt someone.
"Hey, is that my sweater?" Tyler asked as they continued walking across the school grounds. He frowned when Amberly started.
"Um," Amberly said, unsure of how to answer that. "Yeah. I borrowed it. And I forgot to give it back." Her heart pounded in her chest. She was lucky that Candor wore some black too, or else she'd have a hard time explaining how she came across this sweater.
"Eurgh, no," Tyler said, shaking his head and looking disgusted. "The sweater is hideous. I don't want it back. Do me a favour and toss it when you get home, will you? I don't remember buying such an atrocious thing. If I see it again, I'll burn it," he said.
Amberly stiffened, knowing he was serious. She would just have to keep it out of his sight until she got things sorted out. I'm already telling so many lies, she thought, guilt flowing through her. This isn't going to end well.
