Amberly found herself nodding in agreement. "Yes, I would much rather be factionless than stuck in a faction I hate," she agreed. She was glad, however, that it would never come down to that, not that she could imagine. She was Amity-born, and she liked it there, so even if she were stuck in Amity, she could handle it. Truthfully, Amberly was not sure if she could handle the factionless life. She liked having a solid roof over her head. She liked knowing she would always be able to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and good, solid, healthy meals at that. She honestly did not know how some factionless could handle it.
She smiled softly at his, her eyes drinking him in. "I suppose then, that it did turn out well in the end," she said. He certainly made an amazing Dauntless, although she hadn't really seen him being too Dauntless. She could just tell by looking at him that he fit here. He was Dauntless, and that was that. She opened her mouth to say something, when her eye caught sight of the clock on the wall. Her open mouth sucked in air in a gasp, her eyes widening with alarm. "Wow, it's gotten late," she exhaled, biting the inside of her cheek regretfully. She looked to Dimitri, her eyes troubled. As much as she'd love staying up all night talking to him, there was a very large chance her parents would see him when they came by on their way to work in the morning. Plus, there was his family to also consider. What if they woke to find his bed empty? She knew her parents would worry, and she didn't want his to. Her teeth clamped a little harder down on her cheek; she wasn't sure she could say the words to ask him to leave.

Dimitri glanced back at the clock, frowning. "You're right. It is getting pretty late," he made a face, turning back to look at Amberly. "I guess..." he sighed. "I guess I should probably go, huh? I don't want to get you in trouble. Or for you to not be able to get any sleep tonight," he offered her a tiny smile. "Maybe I'll see you at lunch tomorrow?" he asked, a bit uncertain. She had been so busy lately that they hadn't even been able to spend that short amount of time together. "on the roof, maybe?" he suggested hopefully.
Slowly and uncertainly, Dimitri closed the space between him and Amberly. He didn't embrace her-- he wasn't quite sure if she wanted him to right now --but he pressed his lips to her cheek lightly. A peace offering. It felt like too much too soon to kiss her as he normally would have. As he wanted to. But he wanted her to know that everything was alright between them. That he forgave her. That he loved her. Dimitri brushed his fingers against her arm, his heart pounding, and smiled at Amberly again. "I'll see you around, love."
And with that, he left.

Amberly's shoulders slumped when Dimitri caught on. She didn't want him to leave, but it made the most sense for now. They really shouldn't be pushing their relationship by pulling an all-nighter together so soon after what had happened. Besides, she was sure Dimitri needed a think, and she herself needed to re-evaluate. What had she been thinking? In one night, she had almost lost her boyfriend, and she was sure she had lost Tyler for good. He was not the forgiving type. What she had done was awful. She didn't deserve more of Dimitri's time, as much as she wanted it right now. Bed for the both of them was the best option.
She smiled when he mentioned lunch the next day. "Definitely," she told him, unable to contain her relief. Perhaps that would stir up some pleasant memories from their first encounter. She smiled at the thought, then found herself holding her breath when he stepped closer to her. He didn't hug her or kiss her on the lips, but the peck on her cheek was enough to reassure her that they were going to be okay. "I'll see you on the roof," she breathed as he left, her heart pounding still from his nearness. Everything would be okay.
